Bombay HC seeks Centre's stand on OCI players in BCCI events
The Bombay High Court asked the Centre for its view on whether OCI players can take part in BCCI tournaments under the Indian-passport rule.
The Bombay High Court has asked the Centre to clarify whether Overseas Citizens of India holders can compete in BCCI-organised tournaments. The court issued the direction during a hearing on the eligibility rules.
The BCCI has maintained that players must hold an Indian passport to take part in events run by its affiliated bodies. This policy applies across domestic and franchise competitions under the board's jurisdiction.
The court's request for the Centre's position sets the stage for further legal scrutiny of the rule. No date has been fixed for the next hearing.
