Cameron Green ruled out of first Test against South Africa with abdominal strain

Green's abdominal injury opens a middle-order spot for Australia's first Test in South Africa.

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green is unlikely to play the first Test against South Africa at Kingsmead starting October 9. Green sustained a lower abdominal strain during the third ODI against South Africa last month and did not feature in the two-day warm-up match. Beau Webster is expected to play if Green is ruled out. Former Australia pacer Mitchell Johnson said Matthew Renshaw or Cooper Connolly should remain ahead of injury-cover players if Green is unavailable. Connolly can also bowl spin, giving him an edge for selection.
