Chandimal landed hard on his shoulder and tumbled, prompting immediate medical attention. Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed he was taken to hospital for scans and ruled out of the remainder of the match.

Sooriyabandara replaced Chandimal as a concussion substitute on day four. Chandimal had scored four runs from 16 balls in the first innings before his dismissal.
