CSK appoint Albie Morkel and Gareth Batty as assistant coaches for IPL 2027

Chennai Super Kings have appointed former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel and England's Gareth Batty as assistant coaches for the 2027 Indian Premier League season. Morkel played for CSK between 2008 and 2013 and was part of their back-to-back title-winning campaigns in 2010 and 2011. He currently serves as head coach of Joburg Super Kings in the SA20.

Former India pacer Mohit Sharma has been appointed as the team's bowling coach. Sharma played three seasons for CSK in 2014, 2015 and 2019, and won the Purple Cap in his debut season with 23 wickets. Zaheer Khan continues as head coach after Stephen Fleming's departure earlier this year.

The franchise confirmed the appointments through a video posted on social media on Tuesday. No official trades have been confirmed despite speculation linking the team with Hardik Pandya.
