CSK appoint Morkel, Mohit Sharma and Batty as assistant coaches

Chennai Super Kings have appointed former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel and former England spinner Gareth Batty as assistant coaches, with Mohit Sharma named bowling coach for the 2027 IPL season. The franchise confirmed the appointments on Tuesday via social media.

Morkel played for CSK between 2008 and 2013 and recently became head coach of Joburg Super Kings. Mohit Sharma returns to the franchise where he made his IPL debut in 2013 and won the Purple Cap in 2014. Batty recently stepped down as Surrey head coach after leading the county to three consecutive County Championship titles.

The appointments follow the departures of Stephen Fleming, Michael Hussey and Eric Simons. New head coach Zaheer Khan is assembling his own backroom staff ahead of the November 15 retention deadline.
