Danny Lamb retires from cricket at 30 after neck surgery

Sussex all-rounder Danny Lamb has retired from cricket at the age of 30 on medical advice. Last month he underwent neck discectomy and fusion surgery after a spinal-cord injury.

In 26 first-class matches for Sussex he took 59 wickets with his right-arm medium pace, and he also played 12 List A games and 25 T20s for the county.

His exit leaves Sussex short of seam-bowling all-round options for the rest of the 2026 season.
