Daren Sammy praises West Indies spinners after Bangladesh win
Daren Sammy credited West Indies spinners and Chennai preparation for the team's improved spin play against Bangladesh.
West Indies beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first Test in Dhaka to take a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series. West Indies spinners took 16 wickets in the match. Roston Chase took five for 36 while Jomel Warrican claimed four for 63.
Brandon King scored a career-best unbeaten 81 in the chase. Daren Sammy said the West Indies spinners outbowled Bangladesh's spinners. He also said the red-ball players' stint in Chennai helped the batters handle spin in Dhaka.
Sammy urged the team to maintain the same mentality and show more hunger ahead of the second Test. Roston Chase challenged the squad to remain focused on ending the year positively. The second Test starts on November 5 in Sylhet. India moved up to fourth in the WTC 2025-27 standings while Bangladesh slipped to fifth.
