Phil Salt returns to England for scans on finger injury

Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener Phil Salt has returned to England after suffering a finger injury on his left hand. He picked up the injury while diving to save a boundary during RCB's match against Delhi Capitals on April 18. Salt has missed RCB's last three games, including Sunday's four-wicket loss to Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium.

RCB lost by four wickets after scoring 155 all out in 19.2 overs. Salt travelled back to the UK for scans and to spend time with family, per Hindustan Times. His availability for the remainder of IPL 2026 remains in doubt.

Jacob Bethell will continue to open the batting for RCB, per ESPNcricinfo. RCB sit near the bottom of the table after the defeat to GT. Salt's injury adds to RCB's challenges in the race for playoffs.
