Debashish Mohanty's bowling action inspired World Cup logo despite brief Test career
Former Indian fast bowler Debashish Mohanty holds one of the most remarkable yet understated careers in Indian cricket history.
Debashish Mohanty took a five-for on his first-class debut and 4/78 in his first Test against Sri Lanka. Two matches later, the Odisha pacer was done at that level.
White-ball cricket and domestic folklore gave him more room. His high-arm action became the graphic model for the World Cup logo — one of the most recognisable images tied to Indian cricket in that era.
