India beat Pakistan by 64 runs in their Group 1 opener at Edgbaston. Smriti Mandhana made 68 after two drops, and Deepti Sharma took 5 for 10 to skittle Pakistan for 106. Richa Ghosh added 34 off 17.
Scotland claimed their first win at a Women's T20 World Cup, beating Ireland by 40 runs at Old Trafford. Bangladesh chased down the Netherlands' total for their first points of the tournament.
