Brydon Carse removed from England squad after nightclub incident
England captain Joe Root voiced strong disappointment after Brydon Carse was withdrawn from the squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord's. Carse was removed following a nightclub incident in Derby on Saturday night where he was filmed in police handcuffs. The England Cricket Regulator has launched an investigation into the matter.
Sonny Baker replaced Carse in the 15-man squad. Root stated that repeated off-field incidents by England players undermine the team's on-field achievements. He said cricketers must avoid "stupid mistakes" that detract from performances ahead of the Lord's Test.
Michael Vaughan urged the ECB to enforce strict punishment if the investigation finds Carse at fault. Root has previously expressed a desire to remodel England's dressing room culture to inspire supporters both on and off the field.
