Eddie Jack earns first England call-up for T20 series against Australia

Hampshire paceman Eddie Jack has received his first senior England call-up for next month's T20 series against Australia. The 21-year-old was born during the final match of the 2005 Ashes and his parents gave him the middle name Vaughan in honour of the winning captain Michael Vaughan.

Jack said his family has a sporting theme for middle names, with his elder brother named after rugby player Jason Robinson and his younger brother after Lewis Hamilton. He met Vaughan at Edgbaston in 2016 when his father called the former captain over for a photograph. Jack came through the age-group ranks with Vaughan's son Archie.

Jack has been handed an England development deal for the second year in a row and despite playing just seven T20s, he seems poised to make his international debut Down Under as one of just four specialist quicks in the touring squad. He has carried forward advice from England Test captain Joe Root about focusing on continuous improvement rather than setting specific goals.
