Emirates Eagles name Rovman Powell captain for Abu Dhabi T10
Emirates Eagles confirmed their entry into the Abu Dhabi T10 with Rovman Powell as captain and Mickey Arthur as coach. The franchise secured Trent Boult and Shimron Hetmyer as direct signings for the tournament running from November 7 to 20 at Zayed Cricket Stadium. Owned by Maverick Sports and Entertainment, the team aims to build a competitive and commercially sustainable brand.
Powell will lead the side while Arthur oversees cricketing strategy. Boult brings proven wicket-taking quality with the new ball and at the death, while Hetmyer adds middle-order firepower. Matt Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub, said the combination gives Emirates Eagles an outstanding foundation.
Annam Satish Prabhakar, Managing Director of Emirates Eagles, said the consortium has a long-term plan and has assembled an exceptional leadership group with players who understand the demands of franchise cricket. Powell's experience across international and franchise cricket will be central to the team's challenge.
