England name Phoebe Brett and Maria Andrews in U-19 squad for India tour
The ECB named Warwickshire spinner Phoebe Brett and The Blaze all-rounder Maria Andrews in a 15-player England U-19 squad for a five-match T20 series against India and the 2027 Women's T20 World Cup. The series begins on November 26 in Baroda before moving to Surat for the remaining three matches. The squad will remain in India for an additional week of training camps before the tournament in Nepal and Bangladesh.
Brett is the only player retained from England's 2025 World Cup campaign, while Andrews was a non-travelling reserve in that edition. Five additional players will serve as non-travelling reserves and will join all preparation camps. The ECB has not yet named the team captain.
Head coach Chris Guest said the winter programme aims to win the World Cup while preparing players for professional careers. He added that the schedule ensures players gain outdoor game time closer to the tournament than in previous cycles.
