England's decision to appoint three CSK coaches signals deliberate IPL blueprint transfer

England has appointed three former CSK coaches to its Test setup, completing a split between red- and white-ball coaching groups.

England's newly appointed Test coach Stephen Fleming has recruited former Chennai Super Kings colleagues Eric Simons and James Foster to join his backroom staff ahead of the team's winter tour of South Africa. Simons, who worked as CSK's bowling coach for eight years, will serve as fast bowling coach, while Foster, who was CSK's fielding coach in 2026, will take charge of fielding. Richard Dawson has also joined as national elite spin bowling lead after stepping down as Glamorgan head coach. Fleming stepped down from CSK after 18 years to focus on England's red-ball team, while Zaheer Khan has been appointed CSK's new head coach with Mohit Sharma taking over as bowling coach. Brendon McCullum continues to lead England's white-ball teams with a separate support staff including Jeetan Patel, Tim Southee, Sarah Taylor and Kevin Pietersen.
