Essex chairman Jason Gallian steps down

Essex chairman Jason Gallian has resigned after four years, the county confirmed on Friday. He took the post in 2021 and was still there when they returned to Division One last season. The board has already started looking for a replacement.

Officials thanked him for steadying the finances while the club poured money into the new County Ground stand. No reason was given. Essex sit fourth in the Championship after five matches.

Vice-chairman Delvene Selby steps in as acting chair until someone permanent is found, with the club aiming to have a successor in place before the T20 Blast starts in June.
