Ex-India batter questions Gambhir's T20I selections

A former India batter said he does not rate Gautam Gambhir and questioned the T20I selections made by the Indian team. The remarks appeared in Indian Express on Wednesday. The comments come ahead of India's three-match T20I series against Afghanistan that starts on 13 September at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The former batter did not name specific players but expressed doubts over the balance of the squad. India named a 15-member squad on Tuesday, with Jasprit Bumrah and Sanju Samson returning subject to fitness clearance. The series also serves as preparation for India's defence of the Asian Games T20 gold later this month.

No official response has come from the BCCI or Gambhir. The Afghanistan series will be Shreyas Iyer's first assignment as full-time T20I captain.
