Kris Srikkanth rejects Hemang Badani as CSK head coach

Former India opener Kris Srikkanth has opposed Hemang Badani's appointment as Chennai Super Kings head coach for the 2027 season. Srikkanth said MS Dhoni's presence in the setup makes external coaching support unnecessary. The comments come amid speculation over the franchise's next coaching appointment.

Srikkanth backed Chandrakant Pandit as a preferred alternative and questioned why CSK would look outside the organisation. Chennai have struggled in recent seasons and the coaching role remains vacant. The franchise is yet to confirm any changes to its support staff.

Badani has not commented on the reports linking him to the position. CSK are expected to finalise their coaching setup ahead of the 2027 IPL auction cycle.
