Faf du Plessis recalls Kohli's instruction to Indian batters on dangerous Wanderers pitch
Du Plessis said Kohli told his players to hide any reaction to being hit so the match would not be stopped on a dangerous pitch.
Faf du Plessis recalled a Test match at the Wanderers where Virat Kohli instructed his Indian teammates to show no reaction even if hit by the ball. The former South Africa captain said the pitch was extremely dangerous, with deliveries frequently striking players on the head and throat. Dean Elgar had been hit earlier in the match.
Kohli told the batters that any visible discomfort could lead to the match being called off, and the message was to continue playing regardless of being struck on the glove, hand or head. Du Plessis said the approach reflected Kohli's toughness and competitive mindset.
The two played together at Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL. Kohli led India in 68 Tests and recorded 40 wins before stepping down in 2022.
