Former Essex batter Robin Das appears in court on rape charges
Robin Das charged with two counts of rape; trial set for January 2028.
Former Essex cricketer Robin Das appeared at Inner London Crown Court on Friday charged with raping a woman twice in Brixton in March 2024. The 24-year-old, of Leytonstone, was released on conditional bail.
Judge Freya Newbury set a five-day trial for January 2028. Das made 60 appearances for Essex and last played in a One-Day Cup match against Middlesex on 21 July.
Essex suspended Das after he was charged and did not renew his contract. The club said the decision was separate from the legal proceedings and that the alleged incidents took place outside club activities.
