Former India coach questions Shami's exclusion from national team

Bharat Arun has called out Ajit Agarkar for excluding Mohammed Shami from the India team. The former coach believes Shami still has the ability to perform at international level.

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun has questioned Mohammed Shami's exclusion from the national team. Arun believes the veteran pacer still possesses significant talent and durability for international cricket. Shami last played for India in the Champions Trophy in March 2025.

Shami is set to feature in his 100th first-class match in Sunday's Duleep Trophy final for East Zone. The seamer described the milestone as a proud and special moment. He has been turning out in domestic cricket while remaining outside the India setup.

Arun stated that the door should not have been closed on Shami given his current form and experience. The exclusion has drawn attention during the Duleep Trophy matches where Shami has been among the standout performers.
