Suresh Raina reveals uncertainty over India career during Kohli era

Suresh Raina said repeated questions to the captain and coaching staff failed to provide clarity on his place in the team during the Virat Kohli-led era.

Suresh Raina has opened up about the uncertainty surrounding his final years with the Indian cricket team. Speaking to former India opener Aakash Chopra, Raina reflected on his struggle to regain his place in the side during the Virat Kohli-led era. The former India batter said he and Yuvraj Singh had worked their way back to fitness and produced strong domestic performances.

Raina retired from international cricket in 2020 at the age of 33 after being left out of India's squad for the 2019 ODI World Cup in England. He said repeated questions to the captain and coaching staff failed to provide the clarity he was looking for.

The revelation highlights the selection challenges that faced several senior players during that period. Raina was 33 when he stepped away from the game.
