Gautam Gambhir says 811-run Guwahati ODI was not cricket

Gautam Gambhir called the Guwahati surface lifeless after India chased 406 in the second ODI, the third-highest aggregate in ODI history.

India coach Gautam Gambhir criticised the Guwahati pitch after India chased 406 to beat West Indies by eight wickets in the second ODI on Wednesday. The match produced 811 runs in 93.3 overs, the third-highest aggregate in ODI history. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 223 from 133 balls, while Rohit Sharma scored 101. West Indies posted 405 for seven, their first 400-plus total, with three centurions in one innings for the first time. Gambhir said the lifeless surface left bowlers without a contest. Former India player Madan Lal called for curators to prepare pitches that produce finishes around 280 per side.
