Gautam Gambhir says relationship with Rohit Sharma predates coach-captain dynamic

India head coach Gautam Gambhir said his relationship with Rohit Sharma stretches back to when Gambhir was a senior player and Rohit was breaking into the international side. He made the comments while reflecting on different captains he has worked with during his tenure. Gambhir noted that familiarity developed over years makes it easier to navigate disagreements because both understand each other's thinking. He added that every decision ultimately serves the best interest of the team. Gambhir also said Shubman Gill is fortunate to have both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli available to guide him on and off the field. He praised Gill's calmness and leadership despite a difficult period in ODI cricket.
