Gillespie says Aaqib Javed blocked fast-bowling rebuild

Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie stated that his plan to rebuild the fast-bowling culture changed after Aaqib Javed became chief selector. Gillespie resigned in December 2024 after his vision was altered by selection interference during his April appointment.

He called for leadership from cricket figures within the PCB rather than political appointees. Gillespie criticised chairman Mohsin Naqvi for direct involvement in selection decisions. The former coach said he felt disrespected by the shift in direction after Javed took charge.

The PCB has not issued a formal response to the allegations. Gillespie's comments add to scrutiny of board governance during Pakistan's recent series losses.
