Gillespie says Javed Miandad became untouchable after taking selector role

Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie said his plan to rebuild the team's fast-bowling culture changed after Javed Miandad became chief selector. Gillespie, appointed in April 2024, resigned in December that year after the board altered the programme he had been hired to implement.

Gillespie told local media that he arrived with a clear brief to strengthen Pakistan's pace attack. He claimed the vision shifted once Miandad took charge of selections. The former Australia seamer said he felt "disrespected" by the process.

Pakistan have since changed coaches again. The board is reviewing the domestic structure that feeds the national team.
