Gurnoor Brar says he wants to win matches for India even on flat pitches

Gurnoor Brar views flat pitches as opportunities to prove his worth rather than obstacles for a fast bowler.

Gurnoor Brar said he relishes bowling on flat pitches because they give him the chance to stand out and prove his value to the Indian team. The 26-year-old made his ODI debut against Afghanistan earlier this year and has played nine matches since, using his height to generate extra bounce.

Brar returned to domestic cricket with Punjab in the Ranji Trophy despite the upcoming tour of New Zealand, saying the extra motivation to win matches for his state side keeps him sharp. He credited Umesh Yadav with simple but effective advice on maintaining consistent areas during their time together at Gujarat Titans and in the current domestic season.

Brar has not featured in the IPL this season but believes his ability to make an impact on unresponsive surfaces strengthens his case for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. He said the hunger he developed while progressing through Punjab's ranks remains unchanged at international level.
