Harmanpreet says India team has opened gate of gold medals at Asian Games

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said the women's team's Asian Games gold medal win should inspire more success across other sports. India defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final to retain the title they won in Hangzhou three years ago.

Harmanpreet said the team came to Nagoya with one aim of winning gold and returning home with the medal. She noted that previous Indian women's teams never had the opportunity to compete for medals at multi-sport events.

The captain said facilities and crowds at future Asian Games should improve now that cricket has demonstrated its ability to deliver medals for India.
