Michael Hussey appointed Australia consultant coach for 2027 World Cup cycle

Michael Hussey was appointed consultant coach for Australia on Friday, November 6. The appointment covers the 2027 Ashes series and the 2027 ODI World Cup. Hussey will also advise the T20 setup for the 2028 T20 World Cup and Los Angeles Olympics.

Hussey's first assignment is the T20I series against England starting November 21. His next task is the four-Test series against New Zealand. He will work with the team ahead of the five-Test tour of India.

Andrew McDonald said Hussey brings substantial international experience and expertise across multiple formats. Ben Oliver said the appointment is a continuation of an existing association with the team. Hussey previously served as Chennai Super Kings batting coach until IPL 2026.
