ICC appoints Tavengwa Mukuhlani as deputy chairperson until 2027

Tavengwa Mukuhlani replaces Imran Khwaja as ICC deputy chairperson until November 2027 and becomes the first Zimbabwean to hold the role.

The International Cricket Council has appointed Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani as its deputy chairperson until November 2027. Mukuhlani succeeds Singapore's Imran Khwaja and becomes the first Zimbabwean to hold the post.

Mukuhlani represents Zimbabwe on the ICC Board and serves on the Finance and Commercial Affairs and Nominations Committees. He also chairs the HR and Remuneration Committee. ICC chairman Jay Shah said Mukuhlani's experience and understanding of the global game would strengthen cricket's development.

The appointment comes as Zimbabwe prepares to co-host the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup with South Africa and Namibia. Mukuhlani said he would work with Shah to grow the sport and reach new audiences ahead of its return to the Olympic Games.
