ICC launches post-pregnancy return-to-play guidelines for female players
The guidelines support female players, boards and medical staff.
The ICC has launched Return to Play Post-Pregnancy Guidelines for female cricketers. The guidelines introduce a six-stage framework called the 6 Rs: Ready, Review, Restore, Recondition, Return and Refine. They provide structured support for players, member boards and medical staff during the return process.
The framework aims to help national boards implement consistent medical and performance protocols after pregnancy. It covers physical recovery, fitness rebuilding and gradual reintegration into competitive cricket. Member nations are expected to adopt the guidelines in their domestic and international programmes.
Implementation will begin immediately across ICC full-member countries. Boards will receive supporting materials and medical templates to align their existing return-to-play policies. The ICC will monitor adoption rates in the coming months.
