'If you go on his output at Sheffield Shield level, he should have been considered for selection' — Gillespie

Jason Gillespie said Cameron Bancroft should have been considered for Test selection based on his Sheffield Shield output. Bancroft has scored 25 Sheffield Shield centuries for Western Australia, second only to Justin Langer's 29. Gillespie suggested personality and favouritism may explain Bancroft's continued non-selection. Nic Maddinson was selected for the recent South Africa tour despite not having played a Shield game for 19 months. Bancroft scored 44 runs across four innings in the 2019 Ashes before being dropped. Darren Lehmann said it is eight years after the fact and the book is being sold. Ryan Harris said it has taken eight years for Khawaja to speak and called it disappointing.
