BCCI names 15-member squad for Afghanistan T20I series; Hardik Pandya ruled out

The BCCI men's selection committee named a 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer will captain the side, with Tilak Varma named vice-captain. Sanju Samson returns to the squad after missing the Zimbabwe tour. Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy were included subject to fitness clearance.

Hardik Pandya was not considered after picking up a fresh leg injury during rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The series forms part of India's preparation for the Asian Games cricket event in Japan later this month.

The three matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi between September 13 and 17. Four players remain under fitness monitoring ahead of the series.
