India beat Thailand by 94 runs in Women's Asia Cup opener

India defeated Thailand by 94 runs in their Women's Asia Cup 2026 opener at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on August 30. Shafali Verma scored 64 off 36 balls, while Deepti Sharma and Nandini Sharma each took three wickets as Thailand were bowled out for 65.

India reached 159 for nine after collapsing from 90 for one to 127 for six on a turning pitch. Deepti Sharma's three wickets for no runs came in 1.1 overs.

Shafali Verma said the team will review its middle-order performance on turning tracks. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur warned that India cannot take any opponent lightly despite the win.
