India become first team to reach 200 T20I wins after Japan victory

India claimed their 200th T20I win after holding off Japan by two runs.

India became the first team to record 200 wins in men's T20 internationals after beating Japan by two runs in a rain-shortened five-over match at Sano on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer's side posted 32 for four before restricting Japan to 30 for three. Washington Sundar took two for 13 and Axar Patel defended eight runs in the final over. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 16 off 12 balls. A wide call against India in the last over was overturned after the captain intervened. India reached the landmark in 291 matches, ahead of Pakistan's 174 wins from 299 games. Their progress through 50-win milestones has quickened each time, with the latest 50 coming in only 66 matches.
