Sandip Gawande said the Asian Games gold win carries extra significance for Amravati because local batter Bharti Fulmali was part of the victorious squad.

Sandip Gawande, coach of India batter Bharti Fulmali, said the team's Asian Games gold medal win is a proud moment for Amravati. India defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in Tuesday's T20 final at Aichi-Nagoya, defending their title and claiming the country's first gold of the Games. Fulmali, who plays for Vidarbha domestically and Gujarat Giants in the WPL, has been part of the squad since the age of 12. Gawande told ANI that Fulmali is known for scoring quick runs in limited deliveries. Deepti Sharma took three for six and Shafali Verma, Shree Charani and Shreyanka Patil claimed two wickets each as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 69.
