India leads race to host 2027 Women's Champions Trophy

India is the frontrunner to host the 2027 Women's Champions Trophy after the ICC removed Sri Lanka over governance issues.

India has emerged as the leading candidate to host the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy after the ICC moved the 2027 tournament from Sri Lanka. The decision followed government interference in Sri Lankan cricket administration.

The six-team event will now be staged at a different venue within the same window originally allocated to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka had been stripped of hosting rights amid ongoing governance disputes with the ICC.

The shift leaves India's domestic venues as the most viable option for the tournament that marks the first standalone ICC event dedicated to women's 50-over cricket.
