India refuse Asia Cup trophy from Mohsin Naqvi for second year
India's women followed the men's team in refusing the trophy from Naqvi for the second consecutive year.
India's women's team declined to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi after their 72-run win over Sri Lanka in Dubai on Sunday. The players stayed off the field during the presentation.
Naqvi presented the runners-up cheque to Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu before leaving the venue. The BCCI had informed ACC officials in advance that the team would not collect the trophy if Naqvi attended.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the decision aligned with the men's team's stance from last year's final and reflected government policy on relations with Pakistan.
