Shreyas Iyer says India must adapt to Japan conditions before Asian Games

India will wear BCCI colours against Japan before switching to the official Asian Games kit once the medal campaign begins.

India captain Shreyas Iyer said the team must adapt quickly to unfamiliar conditions ahead of their Asian Games title defence in Japan. The side leaves for Aichi-Nagoya this weekend and begins its campaign in the quarter-finals on 28 September.

Iyer spoke after the team resolved a kit-sizing issue with supplier JSW Inspire. Players will wear their regular BCCI jerseys for the standalone T20I against Japan on 22 September before switching to the official Asian Games apparel. VVS Laxman will serve as head coach for the tournament, with Gautam Gambhir absent.

The squad includes Jasprit Bumrah, Abhishek Sharma and teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. India will face the winner of Group A, which includes Afghanistan, Nepal and Japan, in the last eight.
