India to play Japan in historic T20I

India will play Japan in a T20I at the Sano International Cricket Ground on 22 September to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Hindustan Times reported on Friday. The match is part of the Suzuki Cup celebrations.

The game will be India's first official T20I against Japan. Both teams will use the fixture to prepare for upcoming regional events.

The BCCI and the Japan Cricket Association have agreed to a return fixture in India in 2027. The match will be broadcast live in both countries.
