India to play Japan in T20I on 22 September as part of diplomatic anniversary

India will face Japan in a one-off T20 International at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.

The match, branded the Suzuki Cup, marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and forms the opening event of the Sport 75 initiative. The winner will receive the Suzuki Cup trophy.

Both boards view the fixture as an opportunity to expand cricket’s footprint in Japan and to strengthen cultural ties through sport.
