Kohli becomes India's most-capped player against West Indies in ODIs
Virat Kohli became India's most-capped player against the West Indies in ODIs when he took the field for the first match of the current series in Thiruvananthapuram. The appearance was his 44th ODI against the Caribbean side, surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin's tally of 43 matches. Kapil Dev follows with 42 appearances, Rahul Dravid with 40 and MS Dhoni with 39.
Kohli has scored 2,261 runs against the West Indies in ODIs at an average of 66.50, including nine centuries. Shivnarine Chanderpaul holds the overall record with 46 appearances for West Indies against India between 1994 and 2009. If Kohli plays all three ODIs in the current series, he will equal Chanderpaul's tally.
Kohli also needs 59 runs to reach 15,000 ODI runs and become only the second player after Sachin Tendulkar to achieve the milestone.
