India defeat Japan by two runs in historic first T20I
India held off Japan by two runs after a reversed wide call in the final over.
India defeated Japan by two runs in a rain-affected five-over T20I at Sano on Tuesday. Shreyas Iyer's side posted 32 for four before restricting Japan to 30 for three. Washington Sundar took two for 13 and Axar Patel defended eight runs in the final over. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 16 off 12 balls. A wide call against India in the last over was overturned after the captain intervened. Japan captain Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming said the team was proud to have taken the contest to the final ball. India reached the landmark of 200 T20I wins in 291 matches, ahead of Pakistan's 174 wins from 299 games.
