India win one-off T20I by two runs after Axar defends eight in final over

India reached 200 T20I wins after holding off Japan by two runs in a rain-shortened five-over contest at Sano.

Shreyas Iyer's side posted 32 for four on a turning pitch at Sano. Washington Sundar took two for 13, and Axar Patel had eight runs to defend when the last over started. He kept Japan to 30 for three.

The wide called against India in the final over was overturned after the captain stepped in. Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 16 off 12.

The win gave India their 200th T20I victory in 291 matches, ahead of Pakistan's 174 from 299. The fixture formed part of the 75-year diplomatic relations celebrations between the two countries.
