Ishan Kishan named East Zone captain with Sooryavanshi as vice-captain

Ishan Kishan expressed his passion for red-ball cricket despite perceptions that he prefers limited-overs formats.

Ishan Kishan addressed perceptions about his red-ball abilities after strong Duleep Trophy performances for East Zone. He stated that people find it hard to believe but he genuinely enjoys the longer format despite being viewed primarily as a white-ball specialist.

Kishan has played 32 ODIs and 55 T20Is for India, with his last of two Test appearances coming in July 2023. He emphasized that while batting on flat tracks is easier and enjoyable, the competition in Test cricket presents a different challenge that he finds appealing.

His recent form in the Duleep Trophy, including leading East Zone to victory over North East Zone, has renewed speculation about a potential India Test return.
