Jaffer backs left-hander to succeed Kohli at number three in ODIs
Jaffer identified a southpaw as the likely successor to Kohli at number three ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
Wasim Jaffer said an Indian left-hander can replace Virat Kohli at number three in the ODI side. Kohli confirmed the 2027 World Cup will be his last in the format. Jaffer made the comments while discussing India's batting order transition.
Kohli scored 139 not out, 29 and a golden duck in the recent ODI series against West Indies. The golden duck was his first in ODIs since December 2019. He has scored 55 ODI centuries, the most by any batter.
Rohit Sharma also featured in all three matches of the series. The pair will next play ODIs during India's tour of New Zealand that begins in November.
