Japan Cricket Association CEO Naoki Miyaji said the T20I against India on September 22 will serve as a major milestone for cricket in Japan. The match marks Japan's first bilateral series against a full member nation.
Miyaji told CricTracker the fixture will raise visibility for the sport among Japanese fans and sponsors. He added that the association expects increased participation numbers in schools and clubs after the game.
Japan currently holds T20I status but has played limited bilateral cricket. The association plans to use the exposure to push for more resources from the national sports council.
