Jay Shah says Women's Champions Trophy 2027 marks new chapter

ICC chairman Jay Shah described the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy as an exciting new chapter for women's cricket. The six-team T20I tournament will run from 14 to 28 February 2027 in Vadodara and Mumbai after the ICC moved the event from Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka lost hosting rights over governance concerns raised at the ICC's Annual Conference in July. The ICC Board ratified India as replacement host on 1 September. Sri Lanka will still compete despite the change.

India enters as Women's Cricket World Cup holders while Australia arrives as Women's T20 World Cup champions. The tournament will feature England, New Zealand and South Africa.
