Joe Root began his second spell as England Test captain with an innings and 103-run victory over Pakistan at Headingley. England dismissed Pakistan for 135 in their second innings to complete the win inside three days.

Root scored 68 as England posted 409 in their first innings. He also took a catch at leg slip to move past Steve Smith as the leading fielder in Test cricket history with 205 catches.

Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue each took five wickets in the match. England lead the three-match series 1-0 ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston.
