Jos Buttler recalls being signed by Mumbai Indians despite their initial disinterest

Jos Buttler revealed that Mumbai Indians were the only franchise not interested in signing him before the 2016 IPL auction. Seven of the eight teams had expressed interest according to his agent.

Buttler was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.8 crore on auction day. He described the development as surprising given the franchise's earlier stance.

The England batter went on to score 4,646 runs in 138 IPL matches at a strike rate of nearly 150. He credited the franchise for giving him his first opportunity in the tournament.
